OpsPulse

Founder's Notes

Notes from building OpsPulse and running the COLLINGHAMCO portfolio of businesses — in public.

I built OpsPulse to solve my own problem: running sixteen different businesses under COLLINGHAMCO meant logging into a dozen different dashboards every morning just to know if things were okay. So I built a tool that tells me instead of making me go look.

This page is where I'll share what I'm learning — about operations, about managing a portfolio of small businesses, and about building OpsPulse itself. Think of it as building in public, from the owner's seat rather than a boardroom.

Running COLLINGHAMCO

OpsPulse started as the tool I needed to keep tabs on my own portfolio of businesses without living in a dozen dashboards.

Building in public

I'm sharing what actually works (and doesn't) running multiple trade and industrial businesses day to day.

Real use, not theory

Every feature in OpsPulse gets tested on my own companies before it ships to customers.

August 2026

August update: industry intelligence, white-label, and what's next

It's been a busy few weeks at OpsPulse. The team has been heads-down turning the things I wished for on my own portfolio into shipped features. Here's where things stand.

Recent product updates

  • Industry-specific insight rules are now live across 9 sectors. Plumbing, HVAC, manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce, marketing agencies, real estate, legal, and accounting now ship with tailored insight templates out of the box. When a new client connects a source, OpsPulse auto-assigns the right template so their first digest already speaks their language — no manual setup.
  • Benchmark calculator improvements. The free benchmark calculator now pulls fresher, more granular industry data and lets you compare against two size bands. We've also surfaced the "you vs industry average" comparison directly inside the daily digest, so you don't have to go looking for it.
  • White-label digest branding. Agencies and resellers can now drop in their own logo, header banner, brand colour and secondary accent, and control how large the logo appears. Digests land in the client's inbox looking like they came from the agency, not OpsPulse.

Coming soon

  • Slack integration. A daily digest summary will post straight to a Slack channel of your choice, so the whole team sees the numbers without anyone having to check email. Anomaly alerts will land there too.
  • Shopify connector. Orders, revenue and top products will feed straight into the digest alongside your web and ad metrics — one email with the full commercial picture.
  • Custom report builder. Build one-off snapshots for a specific date range, pick exactly which KPIs to include, and schedule them to whoever needs them — investor updates, board packs, or a quick month-end summary.

A note on the vision

The thread running through all of this is simple: performance intelligence should be accessible to every SME, not just the companies big enough to afford an analytics team. Most owners I know don't want another dashboard to log into — they want to be told, once a day, whether things are okay and what to look at. That's the whole point of OpsPulse. No dashboard fatigue, no tab juggling, just a clear, friendly email that turns raw numbers into the one or two things that actually matter today. Every feature above is in service of that.

If you're running a business and drowning in dashboards, give it a try — the first week is on us.

More to come

I'll keep posting updates here as we ship. In the meantime, start your free trial and see for yourself what OpsPulse tells you about your own business every morning.
